Default ES Longevity and Maintenance

I am on the verge of purchasing a 2007 ES 350 full loaded ultra premium package for about 25k - only problem I have is that it has 58k miles and that makes me very nervous. Tires have been replaced and brakes are in good shape, but i'm trying to find out from current ES owners, do you have any problems after 50,000 miles with your vehicles?

Thanks everyone for any feedback you can give regarding your ES maintenance.

I got 2007 ES used at 40K and it now has over 50K now. So far it has no issue other than the fact that the dealer had the transmission replaced for me under warranty (Well, that's a known issue with this car). Other than that, it should be pretty low maintenance with no timing belt to worry about and 100K coolant replacement and 120K for spark. It should be as reliable as other V6 Camrys and Avalons since they share the same mechanical underpinnings. Some people complained about the rear brakes but mine seemed to wear normally.

Power train warranty expires on 70K so make sure you thoroughly check out the transmission before buying (then again, you still have 12K to go).

If you are buying from a Lexus dealer I would have them show me the service history on the car. If you are buying from another dealer or private party a Lexus dealer may or may not pull up the history for you - I've had them do both, I guess depending on how they feel at the time.

It's a Toyota/Lexus. These things last a long long time.

Cool

Service records, service records & service records & condition condition condition.....as long as these items are kept to date & in excellent overall condition.....these things will pretty much last forever.

Good news about this generation ES is they have switched to a timing chain so AFAIK it never needs replacing like the timing belts of the previous generations.

You are worried about a Lexus that has 58k miles on it? While the miles are high for the year and its going to depreciate sharply around 90k miles, there is nothing to worry about as long as it has been taken care of. This isn't 1977 anymore, cars are made to exceed 300k miles with minimal care. I'd look for something with lower mileage, simply due to the fact that you only have 30-35k miles or so before the general idiot car buying public becomes scared of the car getting to the 90k-95k mile mark and they would not buy it for what it is really worth. If you plan on keeping for a long time, then who cares. This car will be on the road to 250-300k miles easily. We aren't talking about a Chrysler here.

I've 62,000 miles on my '07 (bought it new in '06) and have no complaints. I expect it to be totally problem free for at least the first 150,000 miles.

Hey, we're talking Lexus here, check out JD Power, this is a bullet proof car except for some issues with the tranny, which are well documented and will be fixed if required. Make sure you get a CarFax. I would not worry if I were you, you'll love this car!!

I would think a strut replacement would be needed around 70,000 miles to keep the Lexus ride going. Replacement battery is coming due. Transmission fliud replacement along with cabin air filter and spark plugs also. Outside of that, car should be OK to low to mid 100,000 miles.
