Default Ready to Buy

OK, I知 just about ready to buy a car to replace my 2000 Infinity i30 (53,000 miles). I love the car, but because it is 7 years old, I want to replace it while it still has some value and before it starts giving me problems. (I plan to sell it privately). Plus, I really want something newer. I知 the North Central part of NJ.
I would like to stay in the mid $30.000 range. I致e driven the 2008 Avalon (very nice) and have considered the Azera, and while you get a lot for your money, I知 a little concerned about its reliability. My first choice has always been the Lexus ES350 and it seems like I might be able to get one in my price range.
Do you guys have any suggestions and recommendations on how I can find out how I can get the lowest price on this vehicle? I will probably get a Consumer痴 Report pricing guide but beside that, is there anything else that I should do before I start my negotiations? I know enough not to buy any of the add-ons that they try to sell you after the deal is done but I might want to get the extended warrantee. How negotiable is that item?
Thanks for your help.
Paul

You might want to check the posts that detail the positive experiences and those with problems some owners have experienced with the ES350 and take them into consideration when deciding. Some of the problems are significant and appears Lexus has been unsuccessful in its many attempts of remedy, eg, transmission flare. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Lexus gives every owner the chance to add the extended warranty anytime as long as the factory warranty is still in effect. Like any other, it is an insurance policy. I usually opt for it.
My ES350 (built 4/07) has no issues. I just had the 5K service done, and had ZERO items for repair, and I am pretty damn picky.

If you are interested, I started a resource for people to see ACTUAL sale prices of cars and trucks. Some new, some used, but at least you'll get a better idea of what people are really paying for a car. Hope this helps!

If you go to Edmunds dot com there is a forum on ES350's (as well as other makes and models) that has an extensive thread on prices paid. You may even get some specific information on dealers in your area.

When I bought my 350, I actually contacted via email one of the posters, got all his information, when to the same internet sales manager and said "I want the same deal you gave XXX" - it worked great and I believe I got a great deal.

Good luck -
