Default Mark Levinson Audio Package

My 2007 ES350 has the Ultra Package that includes the Mark Levinson Audio Package - I am not impressed.

I was told by another ES350 "Ultra" owner that there was a tech bulletin regading the performance of the audio package and that it was determined the "Ultra" Pkg had too many features and one needed to be unpluged to resolve the performance of the stereo system. To date, I have not seen such a bulletin - can anyone help?

I have the same package and have not heard a thing about this TSIB. The system seems to work well for me.

What exactly don't you like about the ML system?

I love mine, even the Sirius sounds great, the only shortcoming is that the sub should have a crossover control as it bottoms out on some "thumpin'" tunes.

Compared to all of my previous "premium" sound systems in past cars and current other cars, this system is the best. Clarity, panning is far above the Bose and Infinity systems in my other cars. I have my settings at;

Bass - one notch below max
Mid - two notches below max
Treble - max
Surround - one notch more from rear

Hi to the group.

On my ML I have my settings set to middle on lows, mids and highs. Any higher on some music and the woofer will bottom out or the overall presentation will be boomy. I balance one notch to the right to compensate for the drivers position relative to the front speakers. Sometimes I listen at moderate levels, sometimes too loud but always well below the point of audible distortion.

I am happy with the sound of the system on good source material. A poor recording sounds really poor on the ML. This is as it should be as the sound system should not homogenize what you are hearing to sound all the same.

One of the pleasures of the 2007 ML is that you can set volume to max, and except for some hip-hop, you never hear any distortion - again, the sub seems under-engineered but that is my only complaint about the ML
