Default extra ATF transmission "fix" poll.

I was at the dealer today, and the consultant mentioned that they are doing fewer and fewer transmission replacements, and that they're just adding ATF.

The consultant seemed to imply that solved most cases.

Who has gotten this done, and what is the result?

Picked up my car last Friday (4 days ago) after they performed the fluid "overfill" procedure. The Tech told me Lexus has recently revised the procedure three times. While it has (thus far, @ 200 miles) eliminated the low rpm shuddering issue, I still have the 3/4 cold flare, but even that is less severe. Frankly, knowing what I know today and IF this was a new car, I think I would be willing to tolerate it. I voted "No" as because it really did not fix the problem

BTW - I am suprised more people have not responded to this poll.

Default Band-Aid or Real Fix?

Interesting...

I wonder how long before people start griping about the puddle of ATF on their garage floor? Seems to me they "limit" the amount of fluid in the transmission for a reason... Next, I've seen many instances where completely saturating something in fluid as thin as water can close tolerances.

I haven't been keeping up on the weather lately, but I think there's few places in No. America that are reaching summer driving temps... Geez, around Chicago it can get 100F in the summer... Stop and go traffic, heat and a fluid that expands when heated? I'm guessing somone's thought of this already or it's a non-issue, but geez thinking the car could start spewing hot ATF and ignite on the catalytic converters would play out as a big "whoops?"

You just haven't let the car "learn" long enough to complensate for the extra fluid... hehe!

LOL @ ons learning comment..

This add ATF snipe hunt is a very good indication to me that after nearly a full year there is no fix and will be no fix for this as predicted by others.

I'm expecting a TSIB suggesting that we add an extra quart of oil to the engine to eliminate the diesel noise!

Wonder if a can of STP or Mystery Oil additive would help?

For years, I have always been above the full mark in my RX300 and the vehicle handles wonderfully. Recently, my cousin and I didn't quite fill it right on a drain and fill and the downshifts and upshifts were more noticeable. We filled it up as usual and no problems.

It would be nice if those of you who are indicating this ATF actually did something for the car would let us know what you had noticed about your transmission and what was improved after, along with build date of your vehicle.

Anyone who reported this did something let us know what it is you observed before and after. Thanks.

As I previously posted, it has thus far eliminated the low rpm shuddering issue, however I still have the 3/4 cold flare. 7-06 build, second transaxle.

Just a note.
Today I had my 2007 Camry V6 out (same engine and tranny as ES350), and it's in the 60s here in the Indianapolis area.
Suddenly, my tranny didn't slip on the first 3-4 shift like it has all winter.
Interestingly, the 3-4 slip began about October 20th when the temps went cold here.

I live in Florida and am temp is totally unrelated as in above or below a certain temp. as to first start of the day slip. Maybe yours took a holiday to random which darn sure can happen with these, though please let us know what you continue to observe.
