Default VIN number

I just received my VIN today. The car was purchased on September 13th. 06.
Can anyone tell me how the letters and numbers breakdown? I would like to see which month it was produced. The VIN only became available this week yet I'm not seeing "11" or "N" for November anywhere in the number.
I'm told it takes 5 to 6 weeks after the VIN is issued for my dealer to receive the car.

Look inside the driver's door sill for the manufacturers plate... Among you paint and interior codes you should find a 2 digit month and a two digit year, for example my car was built 09/06.

oh, just re-read you don't have the car... FWIW - I see nothing in my vin that ramotely looks like a mfg date, but I'm sure behind the number there's a whole host of other attributes it will match up to.

Call Lexus Corporation customer service on the phone.....Give them the VIN...they should be able to tell you the build date from this information.

The VIN does not include the build date. The build month and year can be found on the driver's side door jamb. AMF is correct - if you want the "exact date" the car was built you can call Lexus Corporate and they will gladly give you that info.

Thanks guys. Lexus Canada says there's no data for my VIN other than it's for a 2007 Lexus ES350.
I guess I'll wait.

http://www.analogx.com/CONTENTS/vinview.htm

The info provided probably isn't as thoroughly detailed as what a manufacturer could tell you themselves if provided a specific VIN, but it'll give you a fairly-decent idea as to what the various digits correspond to.
