howdy , got a question
Did you have any issues with your starter?
Did the car ever have any aftermarket security system?
Do you hear the Fuel Pump whine when the key is in the Start position?
Start by re-seating the battery terminals, I've had something similar happen after my car sat for a winter, I tried starting it, heard a click, then saw a bit of smoke and everything cut out, along with my heart for that moment. Turned out that the terminal wasn't tight, so it just jumped off, the car started right up after re-seating it.
Next, check the voltage on the battery and on the starter itself while cranking ... attempting to crank the engine, see if it drops. If the battery is pretty old, plates start falling apart, so that while you will be able to charge it to 12V, there won't be much of a power output from it. In short, if the voltage dips below about 10V while cranking, you will likely need a new battery, you can test it at any car parts store. If the voltage does dip, but not below 10V, the starter may be jammed, preventing it from spinning.
If the voltage stays the same, take the Starter Relay out and use a light bulb in place of a Coil Side of a relay to see if the key actually does trigger the Starter, if not, there is a break in the connection between the Ignition Key to the Relay; if the bulb will light up, however, the relay is probably bad. To test it, try shorting the Switch Side of the relay to see if the starter would engage, just be sure to use a beefy wire for that, there will be quite a bit of current.
Hope this helps and best of luck!
Please elaborate on this. Is command start the same as a remote starter? This may be the reason you're having issues.
cheers all
