Computer display malfunctioning after battery replacement
My old battery in my 2005 ES330 was slow to start the car so I replaced it. After putting in the new battery, at first it wouldn't turn over and on second try the car started right away. At first the only obvious adjustment was the clock. Then I noticed that the MPG display was jumping around (registering 0.00 and then up to 64 and everywhere in between. Everything else seems to be ok. Is there a way to re-set this? Thank you!
I will try your advice. Could it be that you should always have a 2nd battery hooked up temporarily when swapping out battery so no loss of charge to the system? I watched a youtube video where someone did that, but stated it was only so would not have to reset clock, radio presets, etc. Doesn’t seem like you should have to do that to prevent damage. You could merely have a dead battery one day with no real notice. That wouldn’t be any different from my swapping out a battery. Just my thought.
Did you remove the plastic protectors on the battery, clean the wire terminals and fully seat them and tighten them? Sounds like something is not making contact. Also what type of battery did you install?
