Default Power Trunk Setting

Does anyone know if the opening of the trunk can be manual if I open the trunk from the back? Closing can be automatic with touch of the trunk close button.

Manual opening if I don’t use the remote or inside button is the default behaviour on my RX.

Underneath the lip of the trunk lid is a keyhole to be used in case the battery is dead. One can use this to open the trunk manually with the smart key emergency key. I've not had the need to try this so if you do, let us know how you make out... GOOD LUCK!

Update - I just realized you're talking about an RX. Not sure if it's the same as a 300/350...

Can you define "manual"? The switch under the trunk lip will open the trunk if either all doors are unlocked, or you have the fob in your pocket. If you truly mean manual, as in a mechanical open, doing what BC mentioned with the key will work.

I don’t want the power trunk to lift all the way up when I press the trunk lid button myself. I find that slow, especially if I just have a small item to throw in. Rather a manual open then power close. Don’t want to use the keyhole as that is slower!

However if I press the button inside the car or on my key, it should power open. No issue with that.

That’s how my RX power boot lid works. I reckon less wear on the servo motors too.

You can stop the motion with your hand. The motor will outlive the vehicle, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I’ll connect up Techstream to see if it can be customised.

So, you never want it to power open?

Well that was a silly setting. It just disables the power close/open but keeps the soft close on.

The off setting turns the soft close off as well.

Ok I have found a way to open the trunk without power lift. Undocumented feature.

I still have no idea what you were trying to accomplish. It almost seems as if you don't know that there's a button release under the trunk lid to manually open, but that can't be the case. Glad you found something that worked, though.

for it to have the exact behaviour as my RX power tail gate. Ability to control power open or manual open using the trunk button.

and why would your preference be that it only unlatches, vs fully open? Surely you’re opening it to take something out, or put something in?

A serious question, call me curious.
