Tail lights work, sensor says otherwise
I decided I wanted to start the led conversion on the taillights of my 99 Lexus ES 300, all the bulbs previously worked but I had some extra t20 leds from the other conversion process' and decided why not start. I put them in and they work fine, (checking back at night just in case to check running to break) but my taillight sensor came on saying a bulbs out. I can almost undoubtedly draw the cause to the led conversion, something to do with the input of the lights being different, but there's nothing online for this car specifically. I have a license place light out since I can't find a replacement clip/haven't found the time, but I've never had an issue with it because the sensor won't knock on for those. I did the main/inner taillight t20 bulbs to start off and that's when it came on, decided to put the outer ones in and not make a fuss over it or troubleshoot wether putting the old bulbs back in would fix it. I did it with the car running so maybe I shorted something out, only way to check is by putting in those old bulbs and seeing if it shuts off. What should be my next step? I'm thinking I'm gonna find some obscure power converter kit to trick the car into thinking it's fine when it really is fine. Or maybe I blew some obscure v sensor.
Lamp failure sensor is based on load (wattage) your LEDs draw 10x less power so the light in the dash will be on. I simply remove the bulb from the cluster. Standard warning: don't power on the car with the cluster removed it triggers the airbag light.
