Ive noticed the default is "normal". I've also noticed that if I turn the car off in "eco" mode, it's stays in eco mode on the next restart. Is there a way to make "sport" mode the default? I'd love not to have to switch it on every time.

I just ran a thread about Sport mode and I totally agree I wished it did stay in Sport mode, like the other modes. I don't know either how to keep it set at Sport setting? There must be a reason why that mode only will not stay in that setting? Oh well, like a pilots check list, it's just one more thing to set before we head out.
Default starts in Econo if shut down in Econo or starts in Normal if shut down in Normal or Sport...fuel economy/C.A.F.E. requirement. Not a big deal to reach down and give the control a flick while waiting for the display to boot up.
Federal regulations require that default start-up settings be no less fuel efficient than the settings that were used for EPA testing. If the Normal mode was used for EPA testing, that mode can be the default start-up setting. Since the ECO mode is more fuel efficient, it can be used as the default start-up setting. But, because the Sport mode is less fuel efficient, it cannot be used as the default start-up setting.
I am sure this is a safety issue. There has to be a way to hold back the pure brute fury of ES 350 Sport Mode so that it is not accidentally unleashed by the owner.
