Knock sensor bank 1. Limp mode. Everything from the air box to the intake plenum has been replaced. New vacumm lines, new intake manifold gaskets. Knock sensors (new denso not cheap crap) replaced and wiring harness. New plugs, coil packs, new fuel pump. Injectors cleaned and new O rings.
Car still idles like crap. Still tripping a knock sensor bank 1 code.
Any suggestions? I'm ready to throw the towel in on this girl.
Did you check the wiring to the ECU? It is pretty simple, there is only one wire leaving each sensor, below is the diagram of ECU pins you need to check. Two other contacts in a wiring are for shielding.
Where did you buy your sensors and wiring? Denso does not sell them under their brand, the only place to get Denso OEM sensors is at Toyota dealership, any other one sold under Denso name is probably a counterfeit. If you got your sensors from a refutable place and the everything else checked good, return them and ask for a replacement, there are times when even Toyota OEM parts are defective from the factory. Bypass trick shown above should only be used as a method of last resort, since it drastically limits the ability of the ECU to adjust for knock. You can actually try using that trick to see if it is the ECU at fault, but again, only after all the other options were exhausted.
Listen to Arsenii. If you didn't get the knock sensors from the dealer, time to start there. You can search for one of my old posts from 2018. My shop did get the knock sensors from the dealer and even then, one or both were bad. He ended up tearing mine down and re-doing it 3 times, at his cost, until he got it right. These are usually non-returnable electrical parts but the dealer took them back since he specializes in Japanese car repairs and uses them a lot.
You may have had the gasket between the intake manifold and the intake (metal grate) backwards. If you have the bowed in the wrong direction it will cause the car to go into limp mode.
