98 es300 front driver window regulator
Hi, My 98 es300 front driver window regulator cable snapped but the motor still running. Problem is I am not able to find an aftermarket part for the front, only backs are available. Anyone has any recent experiences with this?
1. I see used regulators on ebay (about $100) but wondering how long a 20+ year old part will last. Anyone found better options?
2. Any advise on how to prevent the cable pulley/wheel from coming out when I try to install the old motor on the new regulator. It seems to be tricky to line up the motor gear with the regulator hole.
Thanks

I finally installed the new regulator and here are some things to be aware of. Hope it helps someone in the future.
1. No Aftermarket regulators available for ES300 Front side. I bought OEM one (only regulator, no motor) on ebay for around $100. Other option is to buy a used regulator & motor combo. Note that 97-98 models have same motor but 99+ models have a different motor. Regulators are same though.
2. Follow the steps/videos in the below thread but be careful when u remove the window. Insert a shop rag inside the door panel to prevent scratching the glass/film (I scratched up the film
by not doing this)
3. When you put the new regulator on the motor, be careful to not let the string wheel come out. It is not easy to roll the string and put the wheel back, so careful.
4. Like I mentioned in the below thread, before you remove the old regulator mark the position of the white adjustment **** on the bottom regulator bolt. Put it back at the same place on the new regulator bolt (This is the lean/tilt adjustment for the glass window).
Watch ProfPlum's video on this thread and read my last comment on how to adjust the lean/tilt on the window.
