Default Speedometer/Odometer Issues

I recently got my 95 es maybe a month ago (quite a steal at $700) with only one issue to solve...speedometer and odometer do not work. Check engine light on, OD flashing. Now, after some research I did a lot of testing. Getting full voltage to the #2 VSS (one with the gear) and intermittent low voltage to the #1 VSS with the key in the on position which I believe is normal. Replaced both VSS to no avail. So now I’m moving on to the cluster which I believe in the culprit. Getting full voltage to the purple and yellow (spedo) wire when key is in the on position, however when testing the corresponding prong on the circuit board when plugged in I am getting .02v. Granted that could mean other things but on top of the spedo/odo not working, my gas gauge is finicky (slow to respond or moves up and down randomly), my temp gauge shows the same behavior, and all my needles do not illuminate. Another big thing is after I took the cluster out for testing and plugged it back in things actually got worse. Now my idle sits barely above the first line, and the car is remaining in a higher gear when slowing down. So I’m thinking my next move is going to be replacing the cluster but I wanted to see what y’all have to say.

Yes, we offer a complete lighting repair for this model and are a proud vendor and sponsor here.

The VSS issue is something that we can repair in addition to the lighting issue. It's additional cost/parts for that, but the problem is related to the cluster.

If you would rather buy a plug and play replacement you can do that here:

With the VSS issue price wise it might work out to be around the same either way.

The lighting will probably be out on that one and the odometer mileage won't match your car. We can correct the mileage on the replacement if you want to go that route too. Just let us know after you install it.

I can correct lighting myself and it’s already got an odo discrepancy from the odo not working for months. Like I said I’ll look into you all if a cheaper alternative doesn’t work out but I don’t see the need to spend $200 to fix this one when I can buy a working one for that since I’m not concerned with the millage being off or having to fix lights. To note this car already has 280k miles so I’m not looking to throw a ton of money into it.
