I have a 2014 with the navigation system. When I first got the car last year (it's a CPO) and up until about 2 months ago, I always received text messages on the screen in the car, provided they were sent from someone in my address book. Then they stopped and now I don't receive any. My iphone 7 is still paired with the car and I have no trouble receiving or making calls. Does anybody out there know why text messaging would have stopped? Any way to turn it back on?

 

Check your phone's Bluetooth setting "info" and confirm the "show notifications" is turned "on"

I am able to get text messages from users that aren't in my phone book/contacts but I have an android. Does iPhone only work with Text Msg that are from recipients in your phone book?

 

Sorry for delay in responding but I implemented your suggestion and it worked. I didn't realize at first that I needed to have the phone on in the car in order to do this, but once I figured that out, all is well. Thanks.

 

On the miPhone... All or only your chosen groups. Your choice.

 

Did you switch your Text service?
My '16 worked fine when I was using SMS but when I switched to Signal for security the car would no longer print the message.
On another vehicle where I have Android Auto, there is no issue
