seals?
I have a question will the seals in the es300 dry up and start to leak because the car was garaged for a year after it was bought. The car is a 2000 lexus es 300 and was stored in a garage with maybe a thousand miles on it for a year, with no starting or anything, when it was went to be used it needed a new battery because the original had died. The car now has 35,000 miles on it and has started to leak oil, within the last few weeks. I became aware of the leaks when the oil was changed on sunday. The leaks then seemed to be just from the rear main seal, but now it looks like one of the valve covers is leaking oil. There is a little bit of oil burning smell.
The dealer I called said they could not get to it until next wednesday, which makes me mad. This should be covered under warranty. So do they expect me to drive around this car until then and maybe have the seal go, loose all the oil, and blow the engine?
Also I know Toyota will work on lexus's but for warranty paid work it has to be done at lexus right?

You say the dealer can not work on your car until next Wednesday, so it sounds like they could just be too busy with other cars to work on. Yes, the oil leak problem should be covered under the Lexus Basic warranty (4 yr/50K), and since I'm sure you'll opt for warranty work, I don't think Toyota will honor it.
If the Toyota dealer/service center is Lexus Certified, then I would ask. It costs nothing to ask first.
You may find that they can do it.
Are there any other Lexus dealers in your area that could get to it sooner?
Will the Lexus dealer that you intend to bring it to give you a loaner for the time being?
Look on the bright side, if the motor goes, you made an attemp to bring it in, they couldn't take it right away. Evidently they felt it was moderately drivable. If the motor goes, then you get a whole new one under warranty.
