Lexus es350 oil spec
I m currently using 5w30 on my Lexus es350 , and thinking of switching to 0w20 recommended for the car. Currently have a mileage of 107,000 from 95,000 in the last 6months. I m here in Africa where the temperature is topically 10 to 37 degree celciuos . What do I do?
Our ES350 exhibits same characteristics with 10/30 Mobil 1 Extended. Switched to 10/30 at about 80K when timing chain cover started seeping motor oil. The slightly thicker oil greatly reduced the seepage; engine can go 10K miles with no makeup oil added. Engine has over 200K now and still running well with 10/30.
Thanks for your response to the OP; I guess 5W-30 was recommended by Lexus. If so, how come 0-30 runs better as you have experienced it... my question/confusion is that "wouldn't 0-30 hurt your engine....? Thanks

at operating temp they are the same but when cold 0W circulates faster and that means less grinding inside engine
If the engine has been running on 5W-30 for all of it's life then there should be no need to go to a different weight oil.
I guess for ES 5th Gen (2007-2012) 5W30 is recommended...You can stick with it
if you have extended your oil changes to every 10,000 miles how does it cosnume oil do you have to add any oil between oil changes ?
also do you chang the filter every 5,000 miles or do you only chang eth filter when doing your oil change ?
i currently purcahse a oil change package at the dealership which is 3 oil changes with 5w30 3 inspections 3 rotations and 3 car washs every 5,000 mile service for a package price of 75.00 at the toyota dealer and when i do it at the lexus dealer its mlike 125.00 really just depends on if one can get me in faster than the other onec one plan is over.
I can go to the Lexus Dealership and buy a package that gives me 1 full syn 0w20 oil change every 10,000 miles and 2 inspections and rotations and car washes every 5,000 miles for 100.00 dollars i am debating about doing that because well id rather not have to keep going in every 2 to 3 months if i could go every 6 months between oil changes i would be happy i drive about 5,000 miles every 2 to to 3 months.
BUt my concearn is what oil fild still lasts and doesn't break down every 10k ? should i insist on having the oil filter changed every 5k ? i also have a 07 ES350 like yours
thank you
however one thing i am thinking is i am tired of going in for oil changes every 2 to 3 months i am thinking about gong with a full synthetic because im thinking i could possibly go 10,000 mile services instead of having to wait for a hour or two at the dealer every 2 to 3 months i would cut that down to every 5 to 6 months
will changin to a full syn allow me to change to the longer oil service life that the newer Lexus vehicles require ? recomend question
i get what your saying and understand it.

I have a novel idea. Get out your manual and read it. Lexus makes specific recommendations. Follow them.
Problem solved.
Why would you take advice from people here that you do not know who did NOT build the car?
