Bought a 2015 with 22,000 miles, nav and luxury package for $26,500 plus they are throwing in
window tinting. It's not a CPO, but still has a good amount of factory warranty left. I think I did pretty good.

 

Congrats on your new purchase. It sounds like a great car and should give you years of enjoyment. I love the look with the 18" rims.

 

For those considering buying a used Lexus vehicle that is only one or 2 model years old, I'm of the belief that CPO vehicles are among the worst car buys available because, once the $2500 or so premium for the CPO warranty is added to the price of the car, the cost of the car starts to get too close to the cost of new car to make sense as a purchase. Further, for a 2015 or 2016 car with still plenty of the factory bumper-to-bumper and power train warranties left, the CPO warranty's value is diminished significantly.

So, I think you did well with buying the 2015 non-CPO ES. Essentially, by buying a non-CPO car, you were able to buy a 2015 ES for about the same money that you would have paid for a similarly equipped 2014 CPO ES.

I'm looking at the same thing 2013 with 47k, for a steal if I can get it. Its equipped about the same, Blk/Blk Navi, with 18 wheels. Also has a few other rear goodie on it. May make the deal tomorrow, if they accept my price.

Let me know what tires it has and how it rides? I heard so much negative about the 18" wheel ES's being harsh and tire cabin noise.

Thanks, Lesz! I only put on about 15K a year so I'm happy with the warranty remaining and glad I was able to get a '15.
I was shocked at the condition of the CPO I drove from Lexus of Naperville. I know the mechanics/service is on strike right now,
but there was quite a bit of damage on the car. In addition to other scratches and dings, there was a significant deep gouge on the right side stretching over both door panels that
had been just painted over. It looked like crap. When I pointed it out to the sales guy, he said it should have never been cleared for CPO.

 

Right now, there are Michelins on the car. I've heard that Pirelli's make a difference, so when the time comes, I am going to go with those.
So far, I've noticed a little more road noise than the others I tested with 17" but it's not too bad. I'm coming from an SUV though. :-) I like the looks of them much better than the 17".

The problem for 1-2 year old CPO vehicles is that there is high demand for them from people who want to buy an "almost new" car, but the supply is low because not many of those cars have yet come back to dealers as trade-ins or lease returns. The combination of high demand and low supply translates into high prices, and the $2500 or so for the CPO warranty boosts the prices even further and closer to the price of a new car.

Further, because CPO warranties are not transferable and since a car can be certified only once, the trade-in or resale value of a 2015 CPO ES is no greater than the trade-in or resale value of a non-CPO 2015 ES. About the only issue with buying a non-CPO 2015 or 2016 ES is finding one, since most recent model year ESs end up at Lexus dealers as CPO vehicles.

So, you did well to find that non-CPO car and to buy it at a good price.
