Unhappy BIG PROBLEM WITH MY 92 ES: someone please help

Ok, ive had my 1992 ES for about 2 years now. Never had a problem till now. Here's whats up:

When I start my car, it acts like its gonna die. It revs up to about 1000rpm then drops to about 200rpm and keeps going back and forth. The car kinda shakes a little and the car will stall if I dont rev it. BUT, when I put the car in DRIVE, it stops. It idles at a normal 1200rpm or so and drives fine. But as soon as I put it back into PARK, it "pudders" like that. It doesnt just do this in the mornings or when i first start it. I does it all the time. Can anyone please tell me what might be causing this??

SHould I change the PCV valve? Throttle Bottle cleaner? Fuel Injenct. cleaner??

Someone please help, thanks!!!

Sounds like a vacuum hose may have slipped off. Just a guess.

when my vacuum hose came off, there was no problems like this, and my engine light came on, so from my experience, i would not say thats what it is. but definitely have it checked....

Oh, OK - somebody with more experience. How many vacuum lines does this MY ES have and which lines did you have off when this symptom didn't exist?

I had this problem on the first car I ever purchased. Turned out to be the distributor, but I think the car would stall whenever I came to a stop, not just when the car was in park. Too long ago to remember.

I would have to go with idle air control motor is failing. It may also be the cam or crank shaft sensor.
Are you getting any "check engine" lights? If so, take it to someone that can hook up a scan tool and monitor for any trouble codes when they happen.

The other thing to look for is a tiny hole or crack in the hose that goes from the air box to the throttle body. This scenario is exactly what happens with you get a small hole or crack. Toyota/Lexus are prone to this problem. Simple replacement of the hose (if it is at fault) clears up any problems.

A flashlight place inside the hose and being in total darkness will illuminate any holes that may be present.

Remember guys, the 92 had a different engine (3VZ-FE) than the 94+ (1MZ-FE). So the vacuum hoses may be a bit different. Also, the older engine most likely won't be OBDII scannable (anybody know if it's OBD I)?

I recently rigged up my own intake pipe and its probably not secured completely. Im just gonna put the stock intake hose back on there and it should clear the problem up...hopefully
