Hi. I have a 2010 es350 and the key is not detected. I put in a new battery in the remote and now I cannot unlock or lock the door. The only way to get it to start is to hold the fob to the ignition button tap it on until the green light. Comes on then tap it again after. Once started, key is still not detected. Please help. Do I need to reset the remote or replace it? If I must reset, do I need to go to the dealership or do it myself. Most of the reprogramming posts are for older cars where you can stick the key into the ignition...I can't do that. If you are able to help, I will be very grateful.

You could try another battery - sometimes "new" ones are bad. So far as I know there is no way to reprogram the key without the dealer's assistance.

 

I would check the battery or the contact.
The key fob can be programed with Techstream.

 

When you press a button on the face of the remote, does the LED light up (red)? If not, try another battery. The symptoms you are describing sound like yet another dead battery. The keyfob is registered correctly - otherwise you couldn't start the car by holding it up against the start ring.

 

Or the battery was installed upside down.
