Can the ES 350 Flasher, which is very loud by the way... be replaced by a different flasher that has a built in hyperflash fix so LED turnsignals can be used ? or is a resister always needed?

I believe that the sound you hear is a recording and the flashing is done electronically, not by a relay. I also believe there is a setting to adjust the volume of directional signal that should also lower the flasher sound. From the manual, this is a dealer setting so you may need to go to them or use a OBD II connection and Carista or Techstream to change it.
ALSO..... I accidently found a utube of a GS350, in which the guy changed the number of flashes when changing lanes to 5 from 3.. Doesnt seem to work on an ES.. Anyone know how to do this on an ES?

I thought I remembered changing the number of flashes from 3 to 5 thru settings on my 2013 ES but on my 2016 it is a dealer setting and I believe you can go all the way to 7 flashes now. I stayed with 5.

They are both "dealer only" personalized settings. If your ES is new, you can take it to the dealer, and they will make changes at no charge at your 5000 mile service. After that, they will charge you to make changes, but you can do it yourself with either the Carista smart phone app or Toyota Techstream software.
For the 2013 ES, the setting that changes the volume of the flashers is #38, and the one that gives you the option of flashing 3 times, 5 times, or 7 times when changing lanes is #39. The numbers of the settings for your 2016 ES might be different from those for the 2013 ES.
If you are going to have the dealer change any of the "dealer only" personalized settings, you should make sure that you have first gone through the full list of 40 or so settings (about 20 are "dealer only") so that you can get any that you wanted to change done during the one time when the dealer does it at no charge.
Thanks. I actually found it in pdf form... the sound of the flasher as well as the 3 flashes.. thats absurd to not be able to do that...im sure its not magic.. The GS instructions is probly similar to what a dealer does

The settings are electronic and done via a connection to the OBD connector under the dash and either a PC running Techstream or a smart phone and Bluetooth ODB connector or a WiFi OBD connector running an app like Carista.
I was able to change my flashes from 3 to 5 in my 2015 ES, when I had it via Carista, But I cant change it in my 2015 GS.
Really? Have you contacted us about it? If we don't have that setting for the 2015 GS right now, we can look into adding it. Please email support@caristaapp.com and we'll go from there. We'll need you or someone else to send us "debug data" from a 2015 GS. Thanks.
