Default Changed alternator now its squeaking

soo.. i had a very eventful weekend. Friday morning my key decided to break off in the ignition. smh. i was able to get it out and super glue the housing of the key together. good to go. Friday night I left my house to go to my girl's.. decided to stop for bottle. got back to the car and she was dead..wouldnt start at all smh. my battery was fairly new (6/14) on the sticker or something.. i got a jump and was able to go on my way. Saturday morning I got a new battery from autozone and everything was good. I drove all day saturday and half of sunday with no issues.. Saturday evening i pick my son up from my mom and the car wouldnt start again smh. got a jump and headed to autozone again smh.. before i could get there, my car died.. i called my mechanic and he said it may be my alternator smh. at this time its like 8pm on a sunday smh. I called an uber to take me to autozone so i could purchase the alternator. i attempted to replace it that same night..with an LED light smh.. the struggle was real. i was able to remove the old and put the new one on that night but the belt kicked my *** so i waited until the next day to finish.. Everything is just about completed but now the belt squeals and i cant get the top bolt all the way through the hole its supposed to screw into smh.. i dont know how to tell if the belt is too tight or too loose. the video i watched said it should be about a quarter inch.. how can i tell? help me please

If it squeals, it is too loose.

You can google vids on how to judge tightness. About 3/8" of deflection mid-run with firm finger pressure.
