Default Climate Unit

Does anyone know if I can replace my 2002 ES300 climate unit with most other 2002 units on sale? My part number, 55902-33420, is on eBay for $85 (only one with that part number) but all the other units (eg: 55900-33700) go for anything from $25-$50 and there are quite a few and they look identical apart from the numbers.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hard to say if the newer part will work. The part number for your car shows 2002-2004 but some Ebay listings show the newer part as 2002-2006. It may be a case of different features in the unit but it will work fine or it could be electrically incompatible. Sorry I can't be of more help.

The 05-06 had heated and cooled seat switch *****, so the wiring might be different than the 02-04.

From what we can see, that should be interchangeable for you. Let us know if you have any other questions that we might be able to help out with!

Thanks for the reply. I'm just talking about the units that are the same as mine (not with heated seats). They have the same switches/***** etc but still have different numbers. Strange.

That's what I'm thinking. Seems like it should work. Knowing my luck it won't though.

The 420 and 700 serial numbers look identical. Same features (not the heated seats). Same ***** and everything. For $40 I may just risk buying the different serial numbered one and trying it.

Worst case you could turn around and sell it.
