Default 2016 es 300h

Hi,

Former SC400 and now possible ES 300H owner. I tried to do a build on Lexus web site and get a little confused on the interior. I could pick "Stratus Gray perforated leather with Espresso Bird’s-Eye Maple trim" as standard with no cost but then the Luxury Package also said: Leather-trimmed interior and wood trimmed console and cost $16xx. What's the difference?

I understand the standard is not real leather and the Luxury package is, but what about the wood or whatever that looks like wood in all the pics I saw. Does it mean that standard looks exactly the same except not real leather and wood? Lexus web site never show a single image with standard interior.

Oh, and what's up with all the extra necessary options when you select Luxury Package that double the price of the package (from $16xx to $31xx). And if you don't select the Luxury Package, those individual options are not available. Why didn't they just put everything in package and list the real price. I thought Lexus was better than that

Thx

There are 2 ways to get a Lexus exactly the way you want it. Luck, and special order it. I had both, I had to special order my 2013 ES300h and wait 4 months to get it. My wife's 2015 ES350 was at the dealer with every option I wanted, was just my lucky day I guess.

I received the spec sheet from Lexus that spells out all the options and it's very clear and straight forward compare to the info they provide on their web site which is very misleading and confusing.

I still can't believe Lexus still play the gimmicky game with their packages that actually cost double of the listed price. And most of their cars, on top of these tricky packages, come with a bunch little options you don't want. We decide to come back to Lexus after all these years and the experience so far isn't as easy as buying Hondas and Subaru.

I always special order my Lexus and eliminate about $1,800 in unwanted options - heated steering wheel in AZ, cargo net, wheel locks, 18" wheels etc.. It does take 2-3 months though but I just time it for the December sales event. Dealer offers same pricing on in-stock vs. special order cars. Pretty good flexibility with options although a few like rear sunscreen are required by Lexus. I opted out of the $500 safety package which is a good deal but not something that I need for my driving. And of course, my choice of color and trim.

Website reflects what has been built and is available now, not well designed to allow customization.

I see. Thx. I was thinking the reason to build the car was because you can't find one that suits you so you go build to order.
