If you like it that's the main thing. Personally, I can't stand it. Whenever I see black wheels, I just figure someone wanted wheels but couldn't afford a set. Makes the car look cheap.
I would say that if you're happy, that is all that matters but I see this a lot and I am also seeing many home made jobs as well. I think a lot of it has to do with how it matches the exterior of the car and if your case I don't think its a good match. I will say yours look more professional than others that I have seen. The other concern is I see some that start flaking off. I have always believed that the wheels that usually come with a car/truck, other than the cheap steal wheels, are typically a good match and look better than just about any after market.
OEM wheels that owners have replaced and dump on the market cheap are the way to go, almost all of them will fit your car and they are oem quality. I got a set of SC430 wheels for $ 250 with about half the tread left. I needed tires anyway so it was a cheap upgrade. Some of the newer IS250 wheels in 18 are really, really nice looking. The GS 5 spokes look great as well. You'd be surprised how cheap some of them pop up for on Craigslist. One set I found the other day was $100 for some 17" IS wheels. That's not much over scrap value.
I'm about to do some plasti dipping, is there anything I should do to help the application? Your results look like they came out good.

Make sure the humidity is low, and do the first two coats lightly. Use wide overlapping sprays and do the fourth and fifth coats a little heavier so that it is easier to remove.
Here is a link, look under 5x114.3 you can fit a ton of oem wheels on your car, you just have to be sure to grab some hubcentric rings if the bore is too big. Someone posted photos of 300zx wheels they got for $60 the other day, they looked really good.

Which is just a little weird. The reason I have chrome ones are that they were $25 shipped to my door whereas silver ones were $400 so I figured I would do the dip.

I think that would've looked really nice if your car was black. On point though.
I'm not a fan of black wheels. Especially on a silver car. Plastidip won't hold up over time and will start to chip. If you want lasting results, powder coat them.
It does come in an anthracite color. There are tons of shades to choose from. The popular shades around here seem to be neon green, flat red, and flat black
I think as much as anything, the black wheels trend has come and may be starting to go away... likewise the mild 'craze' for the flat black plasti-dip on wheels and entire cars.
I did find some of the colours used on high-end cars were kind of neat. Seeing a brand new Mercedes S-Class Coupe in flat black really stood out.
As time went on... every rusty Civic and clapped out Passat seemed to end up finished that way... cheapens the brand, as they say.
Flat will come and go like all automotive trends, at least with the playing dip you can reverse it. I don't personally like all automotive subcultures but hey, anything that gets someone into something mechanical or increases understanding I am all for. I can't believe the amount of people who don't even know how to change a tire, I see people stranded all the time, it's pathetic, that should be a part of drivers ed.
