Smile Engine/Transmission Lag.....

Hello,

I just purchased a 2013 ES 350, and I love the car!

I do notice one thing that does have me worried.

Whenever I startup the car (engine hot or cold) and put it in drive or reverse, and lightly step on the gas to get the car moving, there is a weird stutter. Sort of like when your driving stick in the same scenario, but you let out the clutch a bit to fast and the engine wants to bog out, but your able to hit the gas just a bit more to keep it from stalling. If this were a manual transmission, I would disregard as we all know that can be a normal charcteristic of manual transmission.

This being an automatic, I am worried that something could be off with the tranny or the engine.

Anyone else have anything like this happening? ANyone know what might be causing this?

Thanks in Advance!!!!

The idle on my car - same as yours - is set at a level that if I were to select drive or reverse, the car would move by itself without me touching the accelerator. There is no delay or "stutter" after going into gear. Has the idle been adjusted? It's not a matter of turning a screw any longer, much more complicated. If this is a chronic issue I would look into it further.

I've heard others complain of this, but my 2013 doesn't exhibit the issue, either.

I actually take peace in the fact that others are mentioning this issue. I assume could just be a glitch in some models. Other than this, the car performs perfectly. I will mention that the engine does run a bit rough when in park, sometimes I listen closely, before pulling off, but nothing seem to sound like engine trouble or transmission trouble.

Sometimes the subtle sounds of a new car drive us crazy, not to mention I am quite sure I have OCD!!!! Lol

Many Many Thanks for all the information!!!!

I guess I will have to have some faith I guess, and being a life long Toyota owner, and this being my first Lexus, I can only hope they put the same quality work into the Lexus as well!!!!

It's still under warranty so you should bring it to the dealer!

When you bring it in, it also puts your concern on the computer system so if anything ever becomes of this they'll have a record. Good luck and let us know if everything checks out.
