I have the 2011 ES350 with navigation, the day time color of the screen is tan and when the headlights come on the nav screen has a black background. I really like the instrument lights to be maxed out by rotating the dial, however by doing so the nav screen stays very bright with the tan background. Their is probably no way of having the instrument lights maxed with the black background on the nav screen is their?

 

Not unless you're not going to be needing at the nav at all. Then you would just turn the display screen off.

Either way I feel like you get a face full of brightness at night. Which in california a CHP would probably pull you over for thinking you're using your phone...
