Default 2001 es300 key question

I had a couple of non-remote keys cut. I programmed them and they work fine.

I have 2 questions.

1. Can I use these to program other keys? The key guy said if you put a key in and the security light goes out immediately that it is a master key. With the 2 keys I had cut it takes a second for the security light to go out.

2. Since the keys do not have the ability to lock or unlock will the fob for the slight older es300 do the same thing? That way I can just buy the remote part and have it separate.

Does your key open the trunk and the glove compartment as well?

I do believe yes you can use the older fobs to work the keyless entry to have separate devices.

As for the master keys you must already have a master key to program the other keys right? So you could compare to that, yes the light does behave a little different. Now you can program master or valet so it depends on which procedure you used. You could clear all keys and re-program if you wanted them to be masters but made them valet. Check this PDF should have everything you need: http://www.locksmithcharley.com/toyo...structions.pdf

I followed the instructions to make a master key.

What I did was to program one key from the one master I had.

Then, program the next key from the first one I programmed.

This did not work so I programmed the second key from the master.

The security light takes a second to go out on the 2 keys I had made and programmed.

They are not the keys with the door lock and trunk release.

However they seem to work for every thing.

Did you buy a fob for the remote entry? If so, where did you get it and what type? I have a 1999 ES300 and want to get a remote for the car but I don't know if I should get one on eBay? I have a master key but not the one with the fob on it.

I bought the keys on evil-bay.

The first two were not remote keys. I bought 2 for $16 and paid 90 to get them cut and programmed them myself.

The second two are remote keys. I both them for $40 and paid 75 to get them cut. I still have to program them.

Ok, I was able to program the door locks on one key.

When I tried to get it to go into the programming mode I could not do it again.

This is fro programming the door locks.

Any ideas.

Just a thought. I know that you can program only a certain numbers of master keys. I believe it's 4, but I may be wrong.

There may be other master keys in memory that have been programmed previously, so you may have exceeded the number of master keys allowed.

There is a way to erase some master keys from memory. I don't remember the procedure, so either do a search, or maybe someone in the know can chime in.
