Default Is there an autolock setting?

Last night while getting the circus out of the car, the door didn't get locked. This morning I went out and found the old iPhone I had in my console was missing - the usb cord was strewn across the drivers seat for good measure. So as I'm here changing passwords to anything that may have been connected to that device (bastards have already tried to get into my bank account) - I'm wondering if there's a setting that can automatically lock the doors if I happen to forget...

I have forgotten to lock my car several times and had a briefcase stolen. However, that is on ME. It's my responsibility to secure my vehicle, lock the front door at night, close the windows, etc. I can't even say that I know of a car that has "autolock". Too bad you lost your phone as it's a real hassle but I'll bet you remember to lock from now on...

As stated there is no built-in auto lock feature. I can fully understand why we want auto-lock especially with smartkey and push button starts. We never have to reach for the car keys so why should I have to manually lock the car.

I have personally installed a remote starter that has auto-lock features (i.e. lock car 30 seconds after all doors + trunk is closed). The remote starter that I had installed is called Compustar Slice, which has Passive Lock / Arm described as "While in passive mode, the system will lock and arm the alarm 30 seconds after the last door is closed. As an indicator that the vehicle is going to passively lock and arm, the remote and siren will chirp once and the parking lights will flash once at both 10 and 20 seconds prior to passively locking and arming."

Hope this helps.

The OP lives in California. All dealers for this equipment - Compustar Slice -are either in eastern or western Canada...

My 1994 Corvette auto locked and unlocked as long as the key fob was on me. It was totally hands free although I needed a key to start it.

Correct, there is no auto-lock setting when leaving the vehicle. I guess it would make sense to auto-lock the car if the smart key gets out of range, but for one reason or another, Lexus decided not to do it. There are some auto-lock and auto-unlock settings for when you're inside the car (e.g. when you start moving or when you put the transmission in "D") that can be adjusted, but nothing for when you leave the car.

Sorry to hear about the theft.

I would really love to see this capability as part of the RES+. At a bare minimum, it should be able to send me an alert if the doors have been unlocked for X minutes.

I wish Lexus would have added this feature to "idiot proof" drivers such as myself that forgets to lock or even turn off the vehicle when out of range of the fob.

Is it possible to lock the key in the trunk?
I have opened the trunk to put golf clubs in it without unlocking the doors and panicked that I closed the lid and left the key inside. I should do a test when I have the other key available but haven't. Any one know the answer?

I offer this post as I don't understand how the following could happen
At the hand car wash. Car turned off. Key fob in car. Somehow the car doors locked. I was under the impression the the doors will not lock if fob is in the car. I always talk the key with me if I leave my gob with anybody, valet, car wash ect. I had to unlock it with the key. Door would not even open I tried to touch the door handle. I know my 2013 es300h would not allow me to lock the keys in the car.
