RE: 2003 ES300. Rear Struts + 4 Rotors and Brakes.
Hi. I need to change 4 rotors and all brake pads, plus rear struts. I found a mechanic that told me the job would cost 800$. Is it a fair price? To change rear struts(labor+ parts( costs 350$. Which means, 450$ for the rotors and brakes. I think its a bit overpriced. What do you think?
P.S. I live in Brooklyn , NY

For me personally, I'd consider that a pretty fair price considering the local mechanics around me in california want to charge roughly 400 for new rotors and brake pads for the front only. But thats just around where I live, hopefully others will chime in to let you know their opinion
That's a pretty good deal considering what a place like Goodyear or the dealership would charge. Before I knew more about things like this I paid 900 bucks to replace the rear brakes pad, rotors, and calipers on my es300 at the dealer

From my personal experience, I have worked on many vehicles from the 90s in Ontario, Canada where we use salt on the road during winter. I don't usually run into problems unless they are exhaust components.
And I use rust penetration.

rotors: 4*30$=120$
pads: 40$
struts:120$*2=240$
total: 400$ in parts.
3hrs labor at 75$/hr rate = 225$ so you are looking at the lowest price of around 625$ + tax at least.
So 800$ is not unreasonable. As others said its a good DIY project if you are into that kind of thing. I am ordering rear struts actually as i type this.

4-5 hrs would not surprise and at 85$ or higher rate. The funniest part is it does not matter what car you are servicing, huyndai or lexus or yugo.
