Default Back up camera

I found out today that on the new Lincoln mkz,you have the option of watching the rear view camera while in drive. Is this possible on my 2013 es350?

No, I don't believe it is and even though it might be fun to do I would not expect to see it on a Lexus. I had heard that about a MKZ but was in one and didn't see it doing that.

Test drove two MKZs and no one ever told me about that feature.

Good question. I've owned my 350 for about 4 months but never looked into it. My first response would be NO as it would be a safety distraction. Have you checked the manual? If you find something let us all know.

I feel the rear view mirror is fine while driving.

Someone may come up with a mod to be able to do this. My 2011 Toyota Tacoma rear view cam can be modified pretty easy to be able to turn the rear cam on/off with a switch.

Also Tacoma has a simple mod to be able to turn fog lights on anytime with or without headlights or high beams.
T-Tap wire splice used made things simple.
Anyway, there are many mods for the Tacoma, possibly some for the Lexus ES in the future ???

On the MKS I'm currently renting, the camera stays on for about 15 seconds after you take it out of reverse. I'm not sure if there's an option to change the time it remains on. More than anything, I find it kind of distracting.

I previously owned a 2010 Fusion Hybrid w/ backup camera. IIRC there was a discussion on a forum describing a modification to permit viewing while driving. I seriously doubt any new Ford has this as an inherent option.

unless you can record the camera, why would you ever want to do this? (its only good for what 10'?)

now if someone has a hack to record the cam to a usb drive, that might be useful.. -like on YT Russia road rage videos.

It's all just software commands. Know a good hacker? I am clueless as to why anyone would want to see where they've just been though..

A front facing camera would be nice for those parking stumps.

My 2010 HS250h had the front camera, it can really save your front bumper.
