I'm planning on getting a used ES300 in the next couple of months. Most likely something between 92 and 96. I live in the northeast, where snow is a problem during the beginning of the year. I'm wondering if anyone knows around how much i'd be spending to make the ES300 an AWD car? i know it can be done, but i don't know what i might be spending to do it so that snow doesn't become a problem. I think it comes as RWD if i'm not mistaken.
It would be sweet if you could find the old late 90s corolla wagon rear cut, or something of the same vintage and make it work. I'd say the RX would be better matches but its lifted and bigger than an ES for a reason.
Probably the RX is the way to go here, the trans should mate to the V6 in the ES and give the rear output for AWD.
So if you have to pay someone to do this, I'd guess maybe 30-90k?? You'll need lots of custom stuff. I could be way underestimating. If you have the fabrication tools and skills...well you probably wouldn't be asking here if you had fabrication skills.
As set of snow tires n wheels is like 1k. I'm in MA too I drove my ES all winter with snows it was fine.
