After driving down the road listening to the wind whistling past the doors of my 94, I'm fed up with the door seals. While looking for replacements, I come to find they can't be found anywhere, and I don't want to put a ton of money into a vehicle with 189k and a trans code... Anyways, I remembered an old Scotty Kilmer vid where he talked about using at-205 on squeaking bushings and thought, "Would this work on my crappy door seals? It'd be nice to run it through the car wash without getting a few squirts of water shot through the windows." Bars leaks 1050 rear main seal conditioner was on clearance for $3 and I said the hell with it (had a less concentrated amount of esters w/ no petro. distillates). Before I dilute it and throw it on the seals / noisy s.b. bushings, I wanted to know your opinions on whether or not this will destroy them, and if it will even work.

 

Good luck trying to fix the wind noise and water intrusion, Restored! We had a 1993 ES300, 100,000 miles on the odometer with the same issue. The Lexus dealership mechanic told us it was due to the window track mechanism, and basically not worth fixing. I believe the issue is that the window does not have any door support at either the top or sides, and over time the the worn track mechanism cannot hold the window tight against the seal. An over the counter door seal conditioner seams a good idea, and worth trying. The Meguiar's company has an RX hotline at 1-800-347-5700 for free expert car care advice if you are interested.

 

Why not try the cheap silicone lube first? They are meant for weather stripping.
I use them twice a year on all my door seals.
