So those of you out there that bought cars between October and January and want this, it is possible.
Can you please post the link to the "apology posting on the Lexus Enform web site" I cannot seem to find it. I would like to print it out to bring to my dealer on the next service and I am afraid they will delete it before that time comes. Thank you.

Oh yes . Now that would be something. Instead of OM screen.. An IPAD built in .. running enform and nav. I would pay $1500 at least if an option was available. This way you could have all the apps you want from app store. Plus imagine the amount of publicity it would get.

Retina screen with 16gb storage. 4G built in. now this would blow away all other cars.

IS with mini iPad. Lol

I have a very strong feeling some car manufacturer will do it sooner or later. Since media and smart devices are becoming a very tight nit part of our lives. It only makes sense to deeply integrate them with cars . TV market is doing it. I saw a fridge that has it. LOL

I would hate to see KIA reach a deal and not Lexus.

Who makes the current OS for Lexus navigation.....Denso, Fujitsu? A quick Google search didn't show any obvious answer.

Lexus didn't release that info... All they say is "our partner in U.S"

I second that - so that we all have some ammunition when we bring our cars in.

I'm not sure, but I believe they're referring to the last sentence of the description of the update here:

"Your local Lexus dealer is the source for navigation map updates.
Below is information on the appropriate update for your vehicle. Version 12.1 updates are available.
Please note that an update for vehicles with the GEN7 system will not be available until January 2013.
Lexus apologizes for the delay. "

If this is the right section, does really constitute an apology for a free update? I'm not so sure.

OK Gang. Here is the info on the NAV update that was delayed.

Go to www.lexus.com/enform
owner's resources - drop down box and select lexus navigation
select the tab "what to order" - you will see the following paragraph:

"Your local Lexus dealer is the source for navigation map updates.
Below is information on the appropriate update for your vehicle. Version 12.1 updates are available.
Please note that an update for vehicles with the GEN7 system will not be available until January 2013.
Lexus apologizes for the delay."

Installation and taxes may apply.

If you bought a new 2013 Lexus between October and January you have GEN7 NAV system. You will have the 11.1 maps - not the later updated 12.1 that came out last month. Since Lexus updates each October, your maps are already a year old...

Well I tend to agree with you as far as the apology alluding to a free update. It actually does NOT offer or promise a free update. However, if you bought your car from October thru January, it should have had the 12.1 update installed as Lexus updates their NAV systems in October. For whatever reason in 2012 this was not done and the updates were delayed until January 2013. Therefore, the October - January cars missed out. Make of it what you will, but I think, fairly, they should offer you a free update. This is my opinion, obviously not shared by all.

Stupid question: where do you go to see what version you have?

Thanks for the info guys, I think I also have 2011 maps when my car was purchased on 2/3. I should be able to get free map update.

From the FAQ
"Who provides the map and data content for Lexus’ navigation updates?
Denso works with NAVTEQ, Tele Atlas and InfoUSA to gather information for Lexus’ navigation updates."

I found it under INFO/APPS and then "map data". For my 2013 ES350 the NAV system is Denso and the map data is from Tom - Tom from 2006 to present. I could not determine what version from the number coding on the screen, but my maps were installed on June 1st. 2012.
