NJM is still the best in Jersey. My company wasn't a member.
My son in law owns a Allstate Agency.I liked Traveler's but went to Allstate because it's family.

Insurance prices are based on more than just the car. Driver(s) record, work or leisure, age, gender, where you live, where you work, etc. One person's cheaper could be another's more expensive. As rule of thumb, ins company will opt for non OEM and decided on OEM based on pre-approval.

Yes there are a lot of variables that drive the cost of individual insurance rates. One really has to go out on their own, do their own research, in their own area and figure out what's best for them.

In California try AAA, the Automobile Club has been great with claims, service and best of all...price. Geico is one of the worst based upon my prior experience.

In Calif, AAA can be fairly reasonable, especially if you also tie it with homeowner's insurance. In CR, they rate USAA high - so if you're in military or a vet, you should check them out.

I can attest to USAA Arty - been with them for 36 years. And I think they now will insure you if you have a relative who has a policy with them even if you have no military service.

But I'm curious why this thread came back to life after 8 months.

The best thing about Geico aside from their competitive rates, if you plan on keeping your car beyond the 4 year warranty period, they offer their own comprehensive extended warranty that costs about 20% of what other companies, including Lexus, charge.

Geico is great until you have a claim...I have lots of clients who had Geico for years, filed a claim and then got dropped.

Geico is not the only company that will drop someone after a claim. I fortunately have never had to use them.

This is for sure, but for some reason I know a lot of people that have specifically had that problem with Geico, including my Mother who was insured by Geico for 10 years, had one claim and was dropped.

A few years back, I had an at-fault collision to a parked vehicle, with a repair bill of over $2500. No damage to my RX. I expected my rates to go up, but AAA didn't. Now hows that for good customer service? Well, also, I've been a member with them for over 25 years which may have been a factor .

I second it.....I give USAA a 5 star rating. I was with State Farm for 20 yrs and always had great service and rates until recently. Insuring my house, 3 cars and personal valuables, I'm saving $450/yr. w/better coverage on all.

You must be fortunate in living far inland.......I'm 65 miles from the coast in NC, but I found in 2009 that USAA was charging me $1000 more per year for my homeowners than State Farm is, and I also had a beach house that they were charging me $400 more than State Farm did--for just the non-wind & hail coverage. Very unfortunate, since I had been with them for 38 years. What really bothered me was that when I asked them about the difference, they were really indifferent, and their only remark was that if I cancelled my homeowners, they would never insure a home for me, again (anywhere!). So much for 38 years of loyalty, which annoyed me more than the $1000/year that I had paid for many years. I switched everything to State Farm. The days of "you were in the service, we'll not turn our back on you" are gone, I guess. State Farm has been very good, and after 38 accident-free years, guess what happened in 2010?---Deer runs into the side of my black IS 350, $3500. Perfect repair, all Lexus body panel parts, State Farm came through with flying colors. Homeowners premiums have stayed stable, too. Coastal rates I understand, but why USAA sees such a different risk premium is hard to understand. (Sorry for an off-Lexus topic post, but where you live can play a big role in the insurance cost bundle.)
