Default coolant drain/fill 05ES EASY!

I was changing oil and decided to do cooant fresh up.
1.)let car cool down some
2.)take off the plastic gaurds below, if you haven't already
3.)take off cap
4.)open draincock and drain into old milk jug about 3/4-7/8 gal.
5.)take off overflow reservoir and wash it out
6.)poor new pink coolant in using funnel
7.)now start motor and watch it bubble some, I did not let it get all the way hot, figuring the car would siffon in from reservoir. there was some overflow.
8)I overfilled the reservoir a bit and drove around the block and came back later with reservoir at the full mark

Nice work. That's what most shops do when they change your coolant. I prefer draining all of it, which is more time consuming.

I know this is an old thread, but if the O.P. is still around maybe can clarify a couple of things?

#6 - pour coolant into the radiator through the filler neck correct (and not just in the reservoir tank)?
#7 - "did not let it get all the way hot." Do you mean to the "H" or to normal operating temperature?
#8 - after driving around and the engine cools, is there enough coolant (volume wise) to fill the radiator and engine cavity and have some coolant left in the reservoir tank?

I'm going through a similar scenario and just need some more information. Thanks!
