Default Debadging the 2013 ES

Anybody done it yet? I have the ES300h and want to remove the trunk ES300h & the hybrid on the rear doors. I dont want to discover any pins.

For the last several years, everyone talks about the dental floss method. That would mean, no pins....

I would also think holes in cars for pins= rust problems..

But I'm not 100% sure

Have fun !

I would not expect that there are any pins but know what you mean about not being the first to find out. I always try to get a look behind the emblem if at all possible and have even gone to the parts counter and had them show me the uninstalled emblems in question. And I never take anyone's advice on such an issue.

My son wanted to remove some emblems from a new Mercedes a few months ago and I went to the MB body shop and walked around until I found one being repaired for confirmation.

Since the Hybrid and ES300h emblems are unique to your car which shares the same body panels with the ES350 I would probably give it a go if I couldn't confirm ottherwise. If you do find holes the worst case is buying a new emblem.

I had debadged RX350... No pins... I would expect ES to be the same.

Thanks for the tips all. I'll probably give it a try this weekend and report back.

I would think for cost cutting, and the badge doesn't look redesigned, that they would just use the same part from previous ES350 and the previous ES did not have pins, so this PROBABLY would not either.

Thanks.I agree about the rear badge, but what about the "hybrid" badge on the rear doors?

Great thread please post your results.

Removed my 3GS badges and it had holes and had to be professionally done by a body shop. If the ES doesn't have holes that would be great.

I don't know why anyone want to drive around with lettering on top of a beautiful new car. Absolute worst is when people leave on the dealer license plate frames.

I know some people want the status symbol. Personally I don't want anyone to know that I'm driving a Lexus, I just want it to look good on it's own merits.

Mission accomplished.... no pins.

thanks all, Mike

oh yeah, btw, couldn't do the Lexus symbol, it is slightly raised, and would look funny on this model.

Yes Bill, and all I did was use an old creditcard to get the corner started, then It just pulled right off. Keep in mind, I did it on a summer day, so if cold out, you may want to bring a hair dryer. Very easy though, only took a couple minutes for all badges.

Have fun.
