Default How would you clean this?

Door Speaker Covers.

I would like to remove them to avoid any moisture getting onto the actual speaker. Is that possible or would I have to disassemble the whole door card? Both front doors have a few stains on the covers, which really bother me, since the rest of the interior is very clean.

A soft bristled toothbrush, moistened with dilurd mild diswahing detergeent should do it.

Try in a small corner first.

I would use a soft cloth with simple green and if that doesn't work then try soap and a little bit of water

I've taken apart these door panels before. They're plastic welded into the door panel itself, so, you'd need to get a solder iron and re-heat it back into place after!

uhm no, the nylon clothe part of the speaker cover is glued onto of a plastic grille and it is screwed onto the door panel. just remove the door panel which is like 2 minutes..take the two screws off, slide off that cover and wash it gently...do not soak or the glue will soften and it'll peel off.

or just do it the safe way, just wash it with a towel or foam with a little water.

I have the same issue. Detailer told me he has used Woolite/Water mix, much safer for the fabric. I'll try it.

Meguiars all purpose cleaner and a microfiber. Be very gentle, maybe a soft toothbrush at the most. I wouldn't bother taking them off though.

I have both cleaners in my possession, so I'll give it a try and will post my results later. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions!

You dont have to worry too much about water getting on the speaker cones. as long as its a small amount that will dry up and not on the electronics you're fine.

On the other hand, my tweeters are getting wet whenever i use a pressure gun to wash my car. Thats a problem.

Oxyclean ... Buy the powder and you can mix up a solution in a bottle to squirt on. This will rinse clean....would not use a toothbrush it will fuzz the fabric....use your finger. And for oil stains use Dawn dish soap...20:1 If you get the speaker wet...just dry it in non-direct sun...

Came out quite nice. I used some diluted simple green in warm water and a toothbrush, as recommended.

nice turnaround..see that was simple no need to remove/disassemble anything. I also used SG to clean seatbelts and sometimes to clean rims, wheel wells area, shampoo carpets and floor mats..works great..just have to be careful to dilute it accordingly. That stuff is strong!!
