I have the possibility of picking up a 1998 Lexus ES300 from Arizona. It has a 168k miles, it is maroon on tan, new brakes, good tires, good condition but it needs a new left rear strut and potentially a timing belt. He is asking 2500 for it. I was supposed to flip a clk320 but it was from Canada and i didn't want to deal with the rust. Do people think i could make money off this es300? I would buy it drive it for a bit or tow it home take care of what needs to be fixed and maybe put it up for $4200 Any input is appreciated.

I can tell u that even a local shop would charge you a minimum of $500 for both the one strut and the timing belt..and that's the best scenario. It would trade-in at $2500 even with the repairs...$4200 is stretching it.
i mean its a reliable car and it's a good daily driver... but I wouldn't buy it to make a profit.

Hate to suggest it because unless you are willing to sell it, might annoy folk. But make a listing if you get lots of interest you know you are on(or I should say in) the money if not, might want to change your strategy.
