Paint Touchup Questions.
But, if i bought a bottle of OEM paint and went to a professional, would they be able to just paint in all the rock chips, or would they do the usual and sand off almost the entire hood/panel and start from scratch.
I understand it would probably vary, but i was just wondering if anyone had any idea or if they had done something similar to their ES?
I would do it myself, but I've never trusted myself with paint, and i wouldnt wanna start when its one of my most prized possessions on the line

All it needs is touch-up on several areas. Although when my mothers car got scratches (3 times, all been covered by insurance) they've sanded off the whole panel for sometimes a pretty minor nick.
Go to pepboys or wherever and get a touch up pen, duplicolor makes great matches. I've used their actual spray paint to fix rust and to touch up paint chips... But the pen is better.
FYI, the reason the shop sanded panels down to remove chips was because it was insurance work - it pays well, so may as well do the actual work instead of a touch up pen & buff.

01LEXPL: Yes, I completely understand, but unfortunately its not that easy here. My only option for getting matching paint at a reasonable price is to buy the OEM stuff on the internet rather than pay some body shop exorbitant amounts to match it. I am thinking about getting a applicator pen and a clear coat pen aswell, that should do the job well shouldnt it? as long as i dont mess it up.
And i had a feeling that was probably the case with the insurance. Very surprised with the work they did though, would never have guessed they re-did the panels.
