i just bought a used 2007 lexus es350. it came with a working smart key but the spare has dead battery. so i replaced the dead battery but the car doesn't 'recognize' the spare smart key. how do i program the car recognize the spare smart key?

My guess would be that the spare fob is not programmed yet (blank,) or they give you the wrong fob with the wrong code. Either way, you have to go the dealer for testing.

to program the smart key, lexus is charging CDN$120.

 

Technically, the 2 fob that came with the car should be working properly, if not, THEY should fix it for you for free IMO. But, 120.00can should not be the price, i remember doing it for 70.00 for the same code since it is less than an hour job.
