Well it seems the consensus is that the 2004 ES300 Lexus will come with a 3.3 Liter engine rated at 240 HP. Can anyone tell me if this will be a all new 3.3 liter engine, or just the current 3.0 liter engine with the displacement increased?? I had my heart set on buying a new ES300 this spring, but I definitely want the new engine - - - so it looks like I'll have to wait until late 2003 or early 2004 to get the ES330 - damn that makes we want to cry.
Does anyone know when Lexus dealers typically begin accepting orders for the new (2004) model years ??
Hmmm im predicting 250 hp. Cuz it seems like the Camry Tacoma and all the other Toyotas will get the 240 hp version. And with Toyota worrying about Lexuss line will have to do some modifications to make it better than the Toyota division. So its a trend they mite have to use to satisfy the Lexus consumer.
It's an all-new engine. The redesigned ES is already selling near invoice in certain markets. The ES330 is going to be closer to MSRP when it is released. Your best bet is to wait at least a few months after the ES330 is released if you want a decent deal.
More likely, ES330 gets 240hp. Camry gets de-tuned version with less hp.
Motor Trend says the ES330 w/ 240hp engine will be out in 2004 which most likely means it is a 2005 model, not 2004 model. The RX330 is however arriving spring 2003 according to Lexus and the dealers are accepting orders on that. Our local dealer already has over a dozen customers with advance orders on the new RX.
Don't know about the torque - - nor the HP for that matter. It seems the opinions run anywhere from 230 HP to 250 HP. If I were a betting man I would bet the Lexus ES330 ends up being 250 HP with a detuned 240 HP version for the V6 Camry. I don't see how Toyota can do anything else but at least match the 240 HP currently available in the Honda V6 - - that is if they want to remain competitive. In any event tne Lexus version of the engine will always offer more HP than its Camry cousin. How much is the question - - and only Toyota and Lexus know, and it's doubtful at this point in time the final deciision has been made. The first hard clue will be the 3.3L engine that will be coming in the RX in the not to distant future. I have to disagree with a prior posting that the ES330 engine willl not be available in the Lexus until the 2005 models are released. You can take it to the bank that the engine will be available in the 2004 models in October or November of 2003.
Who care if my ride is underpowered and boring. I mean when u get an es all you should care about is the 0-60 time to enable you to switch lanes fast or to cut off a slow driver. And the boring factor. Hey most ppl luv the quietness of my car. I rather have a quiet ride than a bumpy "loud in the cabin" car.
I think were saying the same thing - i.e. the new 3.3L engine will be in the '04 model which will be released Oct/Nov of '03. I've even heard rumors that it may be a 3.5L, but I believe the consensus is that it will be a 3.3. Personally, I think they need to go with a 3.5L in the 260 -275 HP range to keep up with the competition, but they didn't ask me. (g)
Interesting point about the model cycle Sick. Also, that the styling was refreshed in '95 and '00, one year after the mechanical changes. So I guess this means we'll see a facelift in '05.

Haha, he's just being sarcastic man. No need to flame him, he's a Lexus fan through and through.
