I have a 1999 ES300 that won't start. Or I shoulld say, starts when it feels like it. It turns over fine. Took it to my mechanic who said the comptuer needed to be changed. He said the the check engine light is suppose to light when starting. However, the check engine light DOES NOT go on when the key is inserted and turned. I do trust my mechanic but this is a large expense. Anyone with thoughts??

Start with the simple items first before you fork over the big bucks.

Mine had a similar problem where it would crank just fine but not catch, and a simple cleaning of the IACV fixed her right up!
