Default flat tire & chrome wheels

the es sat for 2 weeks while I was out of town. upon return, the r/r tire was way low; to low to drive on. pumped up to the tire shop..they told me I had "chrome cancer" and that the tire was leaking around the rim. needless to say, they offered to sell me new rims.
In my brief 58 years I haven't come across this before. I am in AZ so we don't get a lot of humidy or rust.
Anyone have anything similar??

I had an old caddy that had this problem, however they said it was just the design of the rim(stock). My solution was to put air in them more frequently and also I kept a small air compressor that plugged into the cigarette lighter, for emergencies.

You can most likely fix this. I've heard where you can sand the bead area on the wheel (where the tire meets the wheel) clean the tire bead area, and then remount with bead glue.

I would take it to a different tire/wheel shop and ask what they would charge to try before I'd buy new rims (assuming you'd like to keep your originals). It's worth a shot.

I think the shop you went to knows it's fixable, but they probably would just rather sell you a new set of wheels/tires.

Never had an issue with any of my OEM chrome rims. I've gone 3 months without moving a car too since I went to Hong Kong so its not a good reason to hate chrome if it doesn't affect my cars at all
