Chrome Wheel delamination
Anyone familiar with a chrome delaminating problem on Lexus rims?
I had a front tire with a slow leak and could not see any damage to the relatively new tire. Went into the tire shop to have it looked after. As soon as I explained the problem to the owner he immediately informed me the problem was chrome delaminating on the rim were the tire bead meets the rim saying that it seems to be a common problem on Lexus and Mercedes chrome rims.
Sure enough when the tire was taken off the rim the interior area of chrome was rough and bubbled up. I verified this with another tire shop. Problem is no one seems to have a solution to the problem.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a reasonable fix........?

Replace rims every 3 years, kind of a pricey solution and besides the car was at my desert home for most of the time.
There is no indications of rust anywhere except ffor the delamination at the tire rim junction.
