I recently bought a 1999 ES 300 that has the stock sound system including a cassette player. I want to add a CD player but I don't want to pay the huge money the dealer wants to add it. What are my options? Has anyone been successful locating a Lexus in a junkyard and remove the changer? What cars are compatible? What list of parts must I find to make it complete? Anyone have an FM modulated CD player? Good/no good? Thanks for your help.

Just go get a CD changer from Wal-Mart or something, or if you wanna be really ghetto, go get a portible CD player with a car kit.

Go to www.car-part.com and do an "all states" search for CD changers (they range in price from $250 - $550). Make sure that A: you get the right one for your tuner (Pioneer or Nakamichi) and B: it includes the mounting bracket and hardware. Also, I've heard that you may have to modify your glovebox to get the bracket to fit but I am not sure. Maybe someone from Club Lexus can offer more specifics.

Hope this helps - J
