Default starting problem

Yesterday my wife waited in the car while I ran an errand in the Mall. Car was turned off, but she did turn the key and listed to the radio while I was gone, about 14 minures. When I came back and tried to start my 1999 ES I heard a whiring sound, but engine did not turn over. About a half hour later, I tried again and it started fine, and has continued to start fine. Any ideas why this happened and if there is anything I should do to avoid having this problem repeat?

Happened to me today. Check your battery cable clamps to make sure they are not loose on the Battery Posts. Try to rotate them by hand. They should be tight.

In my case, the Negative Cable clamp was Loose, and could not be tightened, so I got a new Clamp for Lexus ($20.00).

At least start with checking that. Its a 1 Minute easy check.

Yes that is a good place to start with. ^

With Hondas and Acuras this is a common thing. The soldering in the main relay goes bad after time and the car will not start when it is warm outside and you will have to wait a while for it to cool down for the car to start. This is easily fixed by resoldering the joints in the main relay which is under the dash in the drivers footwell. But this might not be your problem.

But like I said check what PFB suggested first.
