90 K cost

Default 90 K cost

i go to an indy shop and they quoted me $900 for the Timing Belt kit installation on my wife's 98 es300.
does this seem right? it includes the water pump.

Wow, that seems way too high. I believe the labor hour is like 1.5, so maybe close to $200.00 for the labor then the parts, so maybe around $350.00. Unless they are doing the whole 90,000 service, then that might be correct on the quote they gave you.

Well, you say kit, so maybe they'll do drive belts also? Still would be high though. Find out what else they are doing. If just the t-belt and water pump then it's way too much.

I payed about 800 when replacing the water pump, timing belt, and cam seals on my old es at 180 k miles(only a couple of weeks later the battery catches on fire and totals the car =[ )

that stinks. sorry.
i called the local Toyota service center and i can get the "kit" w/ pump done for $600. i'm going to have iridiums put in, too, along w/ a throttle body clean. i can get all of that done for the price the other shop charged me.

then her car's done for awhile, except front brakes this winter.

i took my ls400 there and they did good work but kind of pricey.
