Default A/C Problem

I have a 2007 ES. Intermittently, the A/C doesn't work. This happens sporadically. When it does, it just blows non-cooled air for about 3 or 4 minutes and then finally gets cold. Normallyy, it gets cold within 15 to 30 seconds, even if it's very hot outside. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I'm taking it into the Lexus dealer. But I'm concerned that they'll just say they can't duplicate the problem because it doesn't happen consistently. Anyone ever dealt with this before? Thanks.

I noticed the same thing once in a great while. I was taught to change the settings of the a/c if the car is super hot inside versus the outside - change the setting to cool the outside air first as it is easier to cool. As the interior cools down, then switch it to draw the cabin air to cool.

I had a problem a while ago with the AC compressor cycling on and off too often but keeping the car reasonably cool. I was expecting some kind of a sensor problem but the tech determined that they needed to replace the compressor and clutch which is quite a job - removal or the grill, bumper, radiator, condensor etc. etc. I believe. It took a couple of days but as always they did a great job and everything works fine now. This was the only major repair I have had to have done to a Lexus in 15 years.

Good luck with yours.

Thanks for your replies. I've noticed that the a/c automatically draws outside air when the cabin is quite hot. So I don't think that's the problem. It does feel more like the compressor is not coming on as needed. I just dropped the car off at the dealer. Hopefully, they can find the problem. Again, thanks for your input.
