I had two windshields on my LS inside two months. In both cases, the insurance company required non-OEM replacement. In both cases, the replacement WS was Pilkington, which is the same as all the rest of the glass in the car and is an OEM supplier to Lexus. I don't know that there was a Lexus logo on the original WS, but you pay a lot for it. I replaced the back glass on my MB S 430 at my expense. The dealer wanted $1900. I had a Pilkington replacement from Precision Auto Glass for $715--the only difference was the Precision piece did not have the MB logo on it. Even the part number was the same. That's a LOT to pay for a logo. If you get Pilkington glass, you're getting OEM.

Default well

It might be the year of the vehicle that matters.. I have an 07 ES.. and just had the windshield replaced.. like 30 minutes ago. The total cost was 1500.. with 1200 being for the windshield.. according to the invoice from the windshield installer. I ended up paying only 50 bucks cuz insurance rocks.. but still damn 1500 to get a new windshield.. crazy. And yes... lexus glass, with lexus packaging... the lady said OEM was approved because of the year of car.. so good luck to those needing new windshields

I hope insurance is paying for those windshields guys, WOW.
(I have a '98 GS)
I have a leak and need a re-seal, the shop told me the windshield is likely to crack when they try to get it out so I should expect to just buy new glass with clips, seals, etc. They quoted me 240 and possibly only 200 if they can reuse the clips and seal. Will I notice any difference with this non-OEM glass? should I try to just get it resealed?

Default Just Changed Couple of Weeks Ago

Just had mine changed. PPG on the glass, no Lexus. I guess it all comes down to what company your using. In Houston, I purchased a 2nd party warranty from the dealership. The company took 9 weeks to change the windshield. Very Upsetting!!! All changed now, but its PPG.

Damn that sucks.. but what i dont understand.. is the 2nd party warranty replaced the windshield.. and not your insurance company?? I have AAA and it took me literally 3 days to set up an appointment for the following week, I actually could have had it sooner like the next day but it didnt fit my schedule.. and i took a day setting up the appointment looking for price quotes.. but i went with the insurance recommended safelite autoglass.

Default 2nd Party Warranty

Well, when I purchased my car the dealership of course told me that this company was excellent, I all I really had to spend was $400 for the 5 year warranty, the dealership really wanted $1000, but I talked them down. This being my 1st. Lexus, I wasn't too sure on replacing a windshield, I have had many different cars before and never had to change one till I bought my ES350. Check out the crack.

I had to wait, but I'm happy its finally fixed, just wish it was Lexus glass and not PPG.

Default Noise??

No Noise at all. I've been on Highway 59 going south to the Valley at the speed of +95mph, with the radio off and no noise at all.

Their are times that after market suppliers have OEM branded glass. It does not happen all the time but it can happen. To pay $1100 for a Lexus window IMHO is stupid when all you are paying for is a logo. I would check out fixmywindshield.com and get a quote, and keep your $1000 in your pocket because your going to break the windshield again...
