So I want to modify my sun visor to have an OEM homelink mounted into it. I've ordered some parts, if I make this functional, would there be any interest in retrofitting this into your cars?

Sounds interesting. I don't even have a garage door right now, so we'll see what happens in a year or so.

My car has gone through 13 years without homelink... and survived (well, one time my uncle was backing out of the garage, and fliped the sun visor up (the garage door opener was cliped onto the back... and the old single panel garage door, with the metal part sticking down hit the roof of the ES...
But other than that...i think i'll wait for a newer car w/ home link factory installed.

I'm kinda bummed my 98 doesn't have a compass. They're not necessary, but I enjoy trivial data!

compasses are not trivial...especially when you're driving in areas you have never been before lol or in the south where nothing ever makes sense ... Regardless...this seems like an awesome idea...I want these for my 98.

Yeah, it's nice to have a compass especially when you are reading directions off mapquest that tell you to go in a specific direction. And yes roads do not always make since in the south.

you can buy an autodimming universal rearview mirror with homelink and compass for about $180 shipped off ebay. I was really debating it, but I don't have a garage, so $180 for a compass is a little too much right now

Did you get everything hooked up? If so, how'd you do it?

Cool

I've gotten used to Homelink on my recent newer cars and now I miss it on my ES and SC.
